I don't necessarily reconfirm, but I do log in to the hotel's booking system to confirm the details are there and print a copy of the reservation in case there are discrepancies upon arrival or check-out.

It's also a good opportunity to double-check the rate - I frequently find that the price has gone down and I will cancel and rebook to take advantage of the lower rate.
