On another note, it seems that the Sky Lounges access afforded by some US credit cards will be ending soon. Does anyone know if this also affects the Japan credit cards? I think that Japan Citibank Delta Gold allows the holder three admissions per year, which would still be useful when traveling with more than the one companion that is allowed admission with Gold Medallion status for international flights...
I think you're confused by the recent changes to the rules. USA based AmEx Platinum and Centurion charge cards still get access to DL SCs when flying DL the same day but there will no longer be guest privileges. AFAIK the PP benefits are unchanged.

The no guest policies also affect DL SC memberships (unless more is paid) and access through the DL AmEx Reserve credit card. IIRC the GM+ (SkyTeam ElitePlus) lounge policy when flying SkyTeam international will also eliminate guests, plus accesss to third party lounges will be eliminated for DL coach passengers, although the exact rules for this still seem to be fuzzy.
