Yes, way back in July/2013 I called Air Berlin and asked if I could select seats. I was told yes, but of course, there was a charge for pre-selection. I went ahead with this, and I have the confirmation from them (Air Berlin) for the payment (although no seats #'s were ever mentioned on the receipt) and a confirmation code. I subsequently found out that I have (had?) two confirmation codes - one for the seat purchase and one "booking" number for the actual airline reservation.
What I find totally BIZARRE about this situation is the fact that they had NO PROBLEM charging me for seats months ago (July, 2013) but then, sneakily, cancelled our seat selection when they discovered that maybe they were wrong in issuing us seats in the first place. I really don't know ....... just postulating at this point! We are AA Gold, and are supposed to be One World Ruby (which means basically nothing I guess) which may be the reason they allowed me to pre-purchase seats in the first place. But then they recind the seat assignments when all I was trying to do is make certain that we did indeed have them! (I have had enough bad travel experiences to learn that you don't leave anything to chance and I like to be "armed" with all pertinent travel documents/proof).
FYI, our reservation also lists both my husband and I as "Mrs" as well ........ what a joke, really ........!?
