OP is asking about J service, not Y, so not sure how relevant these observations are for J. EK does have smaller Y seats than QF (10 across Y on 777 vs. 9 on most other 777 Y configs).
Given most of EK's J seats are only ~15mm wider than their Y seats it's a valid observation.
