Long story short, wife got bumped from WT+ to economy on DXB to LHR 2 days ago. She casually mentioned this to me on the phone today and said they gave her 75 quid (diff in fare allegedly) and an exit row seat. Said they would have upgraded her but no room at the inn. She is not a seasoned traveller so didn't barter with them.

Question is, does this count as a 'voluntary' downgrade or involuntary? She couldn't get on a later flight as was heading to London for her sisters hen weekend so it was either fly or don't bother going as she would have missed an entire day. She just said 'ok' and that was that.
