Long time reader, first time poster (newbie member too!!!). Anywhoo. I decided to take the plunge and get the United Club card. I travel a fair amount, but not as much as some. I earned United Silver this year. I live in Chicago and found my self frequenting the United Club a lot so I broke done and got the card.

Wow, long back story there. Anyway. I applied, and got approved, today (Feb 15th). I am leaving for Italy on March 15th, with a 5 hour lay over in Munich. I was hoping to access a Star Alliance lounge/club during this lay over. United fine print says I will get my actual club card in 6 weeks. Called the club desk, they said 2-3. My question is this. Is there a way to access a Star Alliance club/lounge without having the fancy-schmacy united provided card?

I read a lot on this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...but-not-g.html) that i could use a temporary card from the USA club, which i won't have a problem accessing, but the person in this thread had Gold Status and was entitled to the club anyway. I am not, as I am only Silver.

Any thoughts and insights would great.
