I don't agree with your phrasing. Anyway, hopefully all responsible people understand discretion. Sometimes it is worthwhile to find ways around rules that are ridiculous.
My working theory is that you're frustrated by the UK legislation, and that actually you're a responsible uncle who wouldn't go through with setting that kind of example to your niece (eg that it is OK to lie to get what you want), and you're using an internet forum to let off steam.
