Just completed a one-night stay at the W Lakeshore. This hotel is under some heavy renovations.

- The old lobby and Wave bar/restaurant are now walled off, and the check-in desks, bar, and restaurant are temporarily housed in one of the former conference room spaces in the back of the ground level.
- According to the agent, the construction should be finished at the end of May 2014, with the lobby reopening in April 2014. (Best to call and confirm if you're going to stay here during that timeframe.)
- She also said that currently half of the rooms are out of commission while under refurbishment. I don't know what floors, but I believe it has to be the upper floors, as every other time I've stayed here as an SPG75, I've gotten a high floor as the "upgraded" room type. This time, I was on the 9th floor.
- That said, I think all floors may be impacted, because at least one room on my floor had a paper sign on the door marking it as "Construction Area."
- Construction crews are working 9am-5pm.

In all, the hotel will be fine and cheap for a short stay this winter, but won't be the luxurious experience you'd expect from the brand while the renovation is occurring. That said, this hotel needed a refurb desperately.
