For a domestic award on AA, it will be cheaper to just cancel the F awards (and forfeit a whopping $2.50 USD per ticket), and then re-book the awards in Y, if award seats are available.

Do you currently have an additional 50,000 Avios in your BAEC account, or do you need the Avios you spent on the F awards to be returned to your account before you can book the Y awards? Can you cancel the F awards at ba.com to avoid the possible phone fee?
