I just heard back from BA regarding the second “Old First” sector flown. I was told the Avios used for 3 people was 112k/person (used a 2-for-1 on F/CE/CE/F tickets) and the 50k/person we got for the first Old F sector, it represents an approximate 45% return of the Avios spent which BA feels is fair and reasonable. Rather than credit back 50k for the second Old F sector, they credited back 25k/person.
I don’t disagree at all that the 50k (and now additional 25k) is reasonable for crediting back for two Old F sectors. However, it does feel a bit disappointing that I’ve basically gotten penalized for 1) using Avios as the currency to pay for the F tickets and 2) I’ve been penalized for using a 2-for-1 to reduce our average Avios spent per person.
Given that others have used Avios (and 2-for-1s, along with other instruments) for their F tickets and received 50k/person/sector, I am a bit let down. I just would have thought under this service recovery program that flying Old F gets 50k/sector regardless of what currency or discounts were used to pay for the tickets.
In the spirit of the 2014 DYKWIA thread, I want to reply back to customer service “DYKWIA? I’m a very frequent flyer! I’m BAEC Rust!”
