I disagree. There's the riverfront Malecon. There are a few impressive museums (colonial art, anthropology, modern art). There's the restored Cerro Santa Ana neighborhood. Guayaquil will never be the tourist attraction that Quito is, but I wouldn't write it off as having "nothing to see."
Agreed, and the lizard park, jeje, and more impressively some wonderful restored architecture ...
