Diamond breakfast should be better than FHR "continental," at least according to the terms. Diamonds get "full breakfast" or something along those lines (except for Zurich, which is more of a full "lite.") Seems like FHR also can sometimes get a "full" breakfast at the discretion of the property. Since we're Diamonds ("but I'm a diamond!"), it's sometimes hard to tell on the few occasions we've FHR'd, which benefit came from which (fhr OR Diamond), but in general, it's a good combination.
It's generally not really at the discretion of the property. Where you're offered an enhanced breakfast, it should count as your special FHR amenity rather than the hotel offering something else as the amenity. All this should be documented or you cal call PTS/CTS and ask.
