15 minutes are enough to get between gates at DFW. So then it comes down to the question of whether you think your flight will be on time. Absent terrible weather, a fairly early morning flight (which you will be taking) is very likely to be on time. And if the weather looks terrible, you should be able to call AA to switch to the earlier flight the day before.
If you do miss your connection, the worst case scenario is probably that you fly via NRT or SFO/LAX and arrive later the same day. Not terrible.
Since it's July, I would think the weather should probably be fine for a 7am flight. I would hate to be rerouted, since we have the best possible seats on this flight (never flown first class on a 777 for a 14 hour flight, so even though 14 hours will be LONG at least we can sleep). I'm not sure how they could put us in such nice seats if we missed our flight.
I have heard, though, of this particular flight being held at the gate for connecting passengers.
If it only takes 15 minutes, and we'll be the first off the other flight, I am pretty sure we'll be fine.
