There have been system integration issues between citi and AA so do not expect your miles to be posted right after your statement close. This had been happening on other AA cards as well. So if you want to plan to close your account and avoid AF, better have a plan in place to deal with it and if you plan to keep the account open, you have nothing to worry. AA will even let your mile go negative to book your flight. I originally posted this in another thread mentioning the potential problem. Btw, citi did say the miles will be eventually posted even if you close your CC but I don't think anyone actually tried it.
