Do you have any US status? I assume not but wanted to make sure since I assume that having the Barclay's US card you at least have a US Dividend Miles account. You could fly the AA flight and credit to your US account and get a 50% bonus on miles.

On a slightly different note, I'd suggest opening an AA FF account this year. At some point AA and US miles will be combined into one combined AAdvantage account.
