Since the symptoms predated your fueling the car, the was-it-diesel-or-wasn't-it question is immaterial. In any event putting diesel in a gasoline engine will cause it to smoke and buck, but will not create "scraping" sounds that you'd confuse with something stuck underneath the vehicle.
