I haven't had to connect between two separate carriers at MEX, but the general comment I'd add is to remember that LAN and TAM operate separately here. LAN and AM both operate at T2 (TAM is at T1), and as far as I know, AM has had an interline agreement with LAN for some time, but not with TAM.
Also, you don't have to worry about any departure or tourist taxes - that will automatically be part of your ticket.
I'd be shocked if AM and TAM didn't have an interline agreement. Most IATA carriers do - but whether that means they will actually interline the luggage is another story. In any case, MEX seems to be set up like US airports in that everyone goes through all entry formalities. The one time I flew out of T2 (a few months ago), both domestic and international departures were leaving from the same area and there were no exit formalities that a passenger must encounter.
