The Bali Hyatt is a bit of a legend. I do not wish to get to much hassle so wont be over critical (the hotel has its fans ☺). All that said I am glad it is closed now for much much needed renovations. The gardens are amazing and Sanur has a nice local feel to it but the buildings are in the 70s as were the fittings.
I managed to secure a suite with a huge terrace which was very nice apart from being old, the bathrooms were atrocious. The management though at the hotel were superb. The club was also an oasis with an amazing setting, canapés and drinks in the evening was simply brilliant.
Sanur has loads of places to eat and the beach is nice so a good place to base your travels from.
I hired a driver for a day and went to the Bali bird park which I can only recommend, it is simply great. The rest of the time was spent chilling and recovering from the 18 hours of flight.
We enjoyed our 4 night stay but was glad to be moving onto more luxury. I will go back in 2015 like lots of us I guess but at the end of the day this hotel had come to the end of its life and needed to be renewed.
