So as promised and some 6 months later here we go.

I am a poor European and the mile collection process is not simple or cheap. We don't have huge CC bonuses to collect large sums of miles for airlines or indeed hotels so a reliance on purchasing miles particularly from US Airways has enabled luxury travel at a reduced cost. All that said good hotels cost good dollars so budget can be an issue.

I decided that if travelling in premium cabins we might as well go to Bali which is a lot of flying. The difficulty is getting 3 seats. Yes i am greedy and yes i wanted to fly in First.

Thai generally has good availability so i started searching in Feb 13 and found 3 seats on the A380 out of Paris and back again. This involved 2 short inter Europe flights on the dreaded LH short haul C product which i won't talk about. Flights were as follows:

HAJ-FRA-CDG-BKK-DPS-SIN-BKK-CDG-FRA-HAJ

Thats a lot of flights to secure 3 seats on particularly on the 2 long haul F routes to and from BKK and the 3 seats on the C leg to DPS but was lucky and scored a winner in high season.

Firstly those that have been to Paris will know the airport is awful. The F lounge for star alliance is not great either but it is not a zoo and a calm place so no complaints, yes not comparable to other F lounges such as BKK or Fra but adequate.

This was my first flight on the A380 and i have to say i loved it. I like the bright cabin and the sheer size of the plane. What struck me though is how quiet it was. I am hooked.

The Flight was suburb and service was attentive. I enjoyed lots of DOM whilst my daughter and Mrs DEWBY watched despicable me over and over.

I found the bed very comfy and the bed make up service was good. I loved this flight and I do not see why Thai gets so much stick for consistency of service, honestly. The A380 cabin has been posted on here loads of times so wont over do it and I will concentrate on the hotels I visited.

The flights went well including Thais C product to DPS, the seat is more than adequate for the 5 hour hop to Bali, at last we arrived and i was very surprised to be out of the immigration and VOA within 15 mins.

next up Bali Hyatt
