True - UK-US is the largest part of the entire Europe-North America market, but I think Portugal-Brazil accounts for a far larger proportion of the Europe/Brazil market. And many points in the UK have no option but to connect via AMS etc (or travel by surface to London).

I checked prices for random April/May dates, and KLM was the cheapest on the route - though only just about €20 cheaper than the direct TAP service - and with a 2-hour window for connecting.

I really get the feeling the OP may be doing this on separate tickets. Probably even using Transavia to get to AMS!!!
