As of late, it seems like all the luxury cars are now in the VIP section at an additional cost of $30 to $75 per day. None of them are placed in the Executive Aisle any longer.
I'm wondering why I should continue to use National enough to have Executive Aisle access; the cars don't seem much different from the Emerald Aisle.
Anyone have any thoughts here?
I think there's some term confusion going on here.
"VIP" is for those renters in the National system who have that designation. They request specific cars and they are pulled for them.
"Premiere Selection" is what (I think) you're referring to. That's the X$/day upgrade for various special cars.
ES rarely (at least in my experience) has LCARs or the types of vehicles otherwise found in the Premiere Selection anyways. Of course it depends where you're renting.
The appeal of Executive Selection is that you pick your own car, a rental model that is unique in the industry. The cars tend to be nicer than EA, at least in my experience (again, not sure where you're renting). Executive Selection was never a "get a Luxury for the midsize price" (nor was it supposed to be). I think frequent contributors on here would all agree that, while originally feared that the PS would be a huge disaster, it's pretty much been a non-issue.
