Hello fellow FTers,
Despite the risk to come across as "whiner" or "maximizer," I wanted to share this one and would appreciate your opinion:
On my PHL-DFW flight yesterday, my FC seat was soaking wet. When I discovered it, my pants had already absorbed a good amount of the liquid, so I made the flight attendants aware of the situation on my trip to the lav. There I realized (based on the smell) that the liquid on the seat must have been urine. Luckily, I was carrying a pair of spare pants in my on-board rollerboard, so I could at least change my pants during boarding.
Since only the cover of my seat could be replaced but not the back nor the belt (they were still wet), I still had to cover the seats with napkins to prevent further damage (re-seating was not possible, flight was full). While the FAs were very apologetic and provided a trash bag for my messed-up pants, the whole situation was pretty embarrassing and plain disgusting. Ultimately, the FAs advised me to write in to CS which I did.
Surprisingly, I already received a response this morning - 8k miles + a canned response which doesn't even apply to the situation

I'm not really happy with this and would have expected AA to at least offer to cover the dry cleaning - quite disappointing.
Some additional info:
- I'm EXP, the flight was 3.5-hours (PHL-DFW) and first segment of a Y-revenue ticket which I had upgraded with SWUs.
- I asked the FAs as well as GA at arrival to document the incident in flight log and my PNR.
- Not trying to maximize my personal profit out of this situation, but I think the offered compensation is unreasonable.
- And before others ask: Yes, this actually DID happen and no, it was not my urine in the wet pants!!
What do you guys think? Should I just cut the losses and just leave it there or does it make sense to follow up?
