Thanks for the update and for the vote for AirBnB- I was thinking somewhere around King's Cross as there have been such a number of nice flats built or restored there particularly in the last few years that I thought it could work well. If you have any suggestions of areas or even an AirBnb operator you can recommend- would be very much appreciated.
I also find the areas of Hackney and Shoreditch as well as some of the renewed parts of Dalston interesting- somewhere which is not too gentrified and feels lived in as opposed to the caretaker areas of London which can be quite boring (and empty) now.
I'll ask around - I don't really have recent direct experience, as I live a 30-minute train journey away from London, so rarely (although not never) have to stay there!
