All settled in my exit row seat 18A and the F/a comes down the aisle to make sure all the overhead bins are closed and is unable to get the bin two rows in front of me closed (apparently the pax put his bag in the bin and figured "well, that's close enough so screw it" when closing the bin door and broke the door). She calls the Captain and he comes down to see if he is able to get the bin closed (or open to remove the bag) but to no avail. A mechanic comes on and he is unable to get it un-stuck either so where he will have to do "major work" (his words) we are all asked to de-board the aircraft.
Long story short, the flight is estimated to be delayed for 90 minutes so the gate staff at CLT starts rebooking all pax with int'l conx at EWR on other carriers and rebooks the rest of us on the next flight CLT-EWR leaving two hours after our delayed flight along with all luggage retagged to the other carriers or our new flight ^.
A little over an hour into the delay, the mechanic comes out with the offending bag (hard sided wheel aboard where there was no way it would fit in the o/h bin to begin with) and gives it to the gate agent who announces over the p/a "will "Mr. Smith" please come to the podium and pick up your bag which was stuck in the overhead bin"

and the looks that this numbnutz got during his "perp walk" from those of us delayed because of him was priceless

.
We depart on the re-booked flight and when I arrive in EWR, I find out that our mx flight departed about 10 minutes after we did and I'm wondering if the plane wasn't able to be repaired at CLT and flew to EWR with only crew to be repaired once it arrived at EWR.
