I confirmed that the flights were codeshare flights but reading the fine print, only if you are booked on a United Codeshare flight number do you get PQMs. In looking at how United prices these, frequently, the reasonable connect books into a Hawaiian flight number and the only flights which book into a Hawaiian flight booked as a United flight number require multi-hour layovers (frequently missing one or two flights). Pretty pathetic since most of the Hawaiian flights have United Codeshare. Lesson learned, but still not totally obvious. Clearly also didn't get PQD for these flights either even though United booked the ticket and likely made some money on it!
Three years ago had similar issue with PQM. I was more than annoyed. Now I don't really consider UA for this destination due to inconvenient flight times.
