I must say, the only calls I have received on my hotel landline in recent years have been from either hotel staff, or a colleague calling to say he/she would meet me in the lobby. Everything else is mobile phones or instant messaging/Skype.
Could be the economy where there are just not enough workers available all around, or the workers are transient and sees a job at a hotel as a temporary means to an end, or just a job that will get to the next job.
Lets take it easy on hoteliergal. She's new on FT and trying. Why put the gears to her (no pun intended)? She'll learn soon enough its ok to make mistakes, and the normal course here on the forum is to admit when a mistake is made. We always move on from there.
