I guess here is the difference --last time I was on Maui, which was pretty much all of December 2012, the average daily was (I would guess) around perfect 25-27 c and it had not rained on the southern shores for 3 years (according to locals), area roughly all the way from Kihei to Kaanapali. There was intermittent rain on the road to Hana, as expected.

Couldn't go this December, but thankfully we are going to Oahu on the 1st of March, on BA of course (LHR-LAX-HNL). I am saying thankfully as most folks present in this land (England) where it either pisses down or is overcast nearly 365/24/7 would likely agree . (But admittedly it is beautiful here on the recently rare sunny days).

Frankly, I am a bit surprised Hawaii is not particularly popular with Brits considering the excellent BA connections, both LHR-LAX-OGG and LHR-LAX-HNL, at unbelievably low prices (compared to similarly far-flung winter destinations like Australia). I mean seriously, the cheapest returns to either OGG/HNL for between 600-700 pounds? In December, and over the Xmas and New Year period? A bargain!

I am not complaining, the fewer Brits there are over there, the lower (the already low) prices relatively speaking

by the way, we are trying out airbnb this time, less than half the hotel rate we would normally pay, so I hope it works out ^
