Called earlier in the week (Monday?) about my US Airways MC and got transferred to a specialist who offered "to permanently waive the annual fee" but upon pressing, I realized it was actually an offer to downgrade to a no fee version (1 US mile per $2 spent, no airline perks).

I said I'd think about it and hung up.

This Saturday morning, I called back and received another specialist (sounded like English was a second language) who told me that if I kept it open, I'd get my anniversary 10,000 miles on Feb 26 with the Annual Fee posting on Feb 28 (which I already knew). She also offered to give me a 50% discount on the annual fee ($44.50). I asked if there were any other offers and she said she would give me 500 bonus US miles on my next purchase (any amount).

I accepted the 500 bonus mile offer and hung up. We'll revisit on Feb 27th.
