I am, in a sense, paying for my fare using Membership Rewards points - via the means of another program, which they provide the means to do without, in any way, implying that I am voiding my insurance coverage by so doing.
I think this discussion is somewhat academic as it'll only get tested in practice, but I don't think it's nearly as clean enough as extended warranty coverage, for instance.

lots of conflicting information (from different countries, so once again, purely academic since different countries have different insurances). Once again, in my limited experience, I was covered by Amex Platinum for an Aeroplan redemption, but this should, in no way, be indicative of the general trend.
I agree with pn. There is an argument that using the cards reward program (Aeroplan) and paying fees with the card, insurance should cover reward, even when transferred to AE.
I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but booking an AE reward and paying the fees with any Amex Aeroplan card whether gold or platinum should see coverage on the reward. We had some instances where aeroplat is covered. Has anyone been denied insurance claims when paying with the aerogold?

Similar T&C found in the Aeroplan Amex cards, only MR rewards covered, but what does MR have to do with the Aeroplan Amex cards. Seems to me the MR rewards are in fact Aeroplan rewards, because there is no relation to MR and Aeroplan.
IP is still pretty new. Is it truly a smoother claims process for AE redemptions?
