In general, the Hilton, Dorint and Mercure hotels are solid 4 star properties as found everywhere else, Nothing remarkable, but steady quality. I would add the Derag Hotel to this list - a small german chain but with good locations usually.

The one hotel that stands out from the crowd for me is the Kameha Grand on the other side of the Rhine with nice views of Bonn. It's supposed to be 5 star and I've heard good reports of friends staying there in the past 1-2 years. Also the rates are mostly very affordable at 100-120 EUR for a single room. I would go there, if I would have the choice.
