I've driven that road into Canada. It's hard to see how he could miss the various signs, the border crossing on the U.S. side, the Duty Free store and the various turnarounds that he could have taken.

He must have had a really bad GPS system!

I live in Northern VT and travel across the border frequently. At every crossing --- whether freeway or minor rural road --- there are plenty of signs alerting drivers to the border.

My other question is how anyone can "forget" having a gun in the car. Just as I am befuddled when air travelers are stopped at TSA checkpoints with "forgotten" guns.


Another article on the story noted that there is a great deal of anti Canada noise on pro gun websites, some calling for a boycott of Canada. People seem to forget that Canada is a sovereign nation, with its own laws. Also, great point about NY state also having very restrictive gun laws, which this man may also have violated.
