No you definitely do not, at least for me...you have to have a discover cc but I've used GC (ie Best Buy gcs), AMEX and Chase CC to makes purchases thru ShopDiscover and always get the bonus

+1. I have a Discover, never actually use it when using the ShopDiscover portal. never had any problems getting my cashback.
