What's wrong with flying just because it's fun and one enjoys it?
Not sure how you fly, but "flying" for me starts with me anxiously monitoring my inbound flight to ensure my connection is safe. Next it's deciding how late I can stay at the office and still get to airport in time through traffic ....... The joys of security, crowded lounges, rush to find overhead space, snug seating, that follow take away from the "fun" of flying for me.
Don't get me wrong, I like the power/performance of jets and seeing different parts of the world, it's all the stuff before that sucks.
It's why I'm amazed the OP would route FLA>MEX via Toronto and all the hassles that entails
