The chains mentioned are not the only ones with mock rooms. In fact, when deciding upon a design/concept, rooms are created in the specific hotels to be decided upon before the project schedule is determined, items are ordered and millions of dollars are spent. I know that with the chains I have been associated with, we often asked our most loyal guests to give us some feedback on the design and functionality. I do have to agree that one thing that still bothers me about luxury room design is the absence of convenient plugs. It doesn't make sense how I have no issues plugging in my laptop and iPhone at a chain with breakfast included, but have to unplug things and/or move furniture to stay at a hotel within the chain I currently work for.
