Surcharges and taxes when upgrading from WTP to CW
Sorry guys, relativley new in this thing

I am looking to upgrade a flight (LHR- JFK) from WTP to CW and it turns out to be 20.000 avios (as i expected) + 600 gbp in taxes and surcharges (when the ticket costs 1000gbp itself). Does this quote sounds correct? I was expecting something less expesive that 600. Am I doing something wrong? I get that price from book and upgrade. Would it be cheaper if I upgraded after booking?
