It is used to bus us poor domestic passengers to planes that have arrived from somewhere else in Europe (and usually late, especially whatever route uses the 767 that then serves BA1464). The plane can't dock at a domestic gate as it would allow people off without having to show their passports. And we can't go straight to whichever gate it has docked at, because they don't have eye scanners.

I have to use this gate very Thursday night and I hate it, especially the DYKWIAs who stride up the front of the queue that is half way up the escalators to demand that they have priority boarding to the coaches.

And if we are counting, I was bussed from A6 a couple of weeks ago.
