Always wanted to see the Northern lights, but with a notable lack of success so far despite winter trips to Iceland. Never really thought of looking on a flight, but it seems the Tokyo route goes quite far North over Siberia.
Saw them going to NRT from HEL with JAL. The captain dimmed the cabin lights and announced, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please enjoy the Northern Lights." It was very hard to detect any colour to the naked eye but photos captured the green.
