Upgrades for DM's depends upon the routing - some routings at BFUG's only, some are 6 days out and even as late as at the 2 day out FO window.
Have even had my non-status wife Companion Upgrade cleared for a 1st class seat at T-20 minutes.

I agree. As it has been said many times in the past. You just can't predict. As been shown lately, upgrades will continue to get more difficult with FCM, fewer airlines, and less flights to chose from. I have been on flights that I thought upgrades were for sure and didn't get them and on flights where I figured an upgrade was never going to happen and got upgraded.
