I've gotten the most recent posts from there and pix of our room. . .and BIG BIG shout out to the front office manager that came to pull me out of the ocean when I had to yell for help!
Seriously got stuck on back side of blackrock in strong current and couldn't swim out. . .after over an hour I was getting tired and yelled for help. Guests in building 6 (the deluxe ocean front we were originally in) heard my cries and called for help immediately, big thanks to those guests as well. I was told front office manager, Jonathan Su, was the wonderful gentleman that came and pulled me up on the rocks leading me back to the shore safely.
They had also sent out couple guys on paddle boards, great response time, just wish I hadn't been so foolish to snorkel out past Blackrock without flippers. PLEASE PLEASE everyone, no matter how strong of swimmer you are, wear flippers when swimming around blackrock.
I do feel the Sheraton Maui staff (and guests) saved my life 2/2/14. I couldn't get out of the current and was just stuck in place for a long time. Jonathan talked me through swimming towards him on the rocks (which I was originally fearful of being crashed into) he talked me through it and helped pull me out when my muscles were too weak to pull myself up and out. Few bruises but I lived and learned to take more precautions when swimming/snorkeling in the ocean.
