I saw them approaching KEF in March a few years ago just before midnight. They were visible from both sides of the plane. Big clouds of green with tinges of white and red. Sadly my camera battery had run out!
I remember flying YYZ to LHR in the winter over Iceland and witnessed a spectacular Northern Lights show. The green was remarkable. At points they almost looked like pipes of green light.The passenger next to me was a retired cargo pilot and he said he'd witnessed them many times but that was one of the most amazing he had seen.
