I went to CheckMyTrip.com and it cannot see the ticket. But on the UA website I can see my confirmation code, and even change seats.
You get two e-mails. The first is the reservation confirmation. The second confirms ticketing. If you haven't received the second, you're not ticketed. It usually takes at most an hour or two to ticket, but ticketing can take longer when there's a partner (i.e., AC) involved.
