Is it time to switch over all of my earning to AA as a US flyer?
I just completed a status challenge on US and have gold status after flying 20 segments in the last three months. Going forward I will be flying about 8 segments a month (give or take a few 4 segment weeks) all on US Airways. I currently have 10 segments on US Airway for the month of January which would mean Chairman is 110 segments away while AA Exec Platinum is 100 segments away. I already get upgraded to FC on all of my weekly US flights as a gold, so it seems like there is no benefit in going on to higher US status.
Is there any reason I shouldn't credit my flights to AA considering the following:
-AA miles are more valuable to me as those are who I would book for vacation flying.
-I would still be treated like a gold at US this year but could earn top level American status faster and wouldn't need to worry about issues with the program merging (ie Chairmen going to reg Plats).
The only downside I see it that my regular flight is 322miles and I don't the cross mileage postings guarantee 500 mile minimum.
