Buying gift cards for future purchases - no
Buying and cancelling flexible tickets - no that's why they're flexible
Unethical?
Certainly the top two are perfectly ethical, the bottom one depends on the individual's ethical basis, but at least the airline gets the value of the money between the purchase and cancellation date.
