BA will not credit the TPs of the original booking, but AA will gladly reroute you differently if you call up and say you're not happy with their initial reroute. Several of us (see discussion here) have actually managed to get rerouted onto LAX-JFK in F, even though that is a three class flight. But apparently there is some risk of being downgraded to J at the gate, so the safest option might be asking for a reroute via DCA or BOS, which would actually get you 60 TP *more* than the original route.
