Regarding all the moving around: As Kage noticed, we did the same in Portugal last year and were happy given that we did not drive a lot each day and also we did not really unpack when we stayed just one night. There was also a mistake: Vegas should be 3 nights, not one. I have corrected this now. This means that we have four stops (SF, LA, Amangiri and Vegas) where we stay 4(3) nights, meaning we have time to relax there.
I am just wondering about "all the driving" if I am making a mistake looking at Google maps to calculate how much we will really be driving each day.
Google maps says:
SF to Carmel: 2 hours
Carmel to Santa Barbara: 5 hours
Santa Barbara to LA: 1 hours, 40 minutes
LA to Palm Springs: 1 hours, 40 minutes
Palm Springs to Scottsdale: 4 hours
Scottsdale to Sedona: 2 hours
Sedona via Grand Canyon (arranged by Aman) to Amangiri: whole day incl. sightseeing
Amangiri to Vegas: 4 hours
Vegas to LA/beach: 4 hours
This all look very doable, and I believe there is a lot to see on our way, meaning nice drives, but maybe the traffic is normally so heavy that we spend most of the day in a traffic jam instead getting further?? Of course, some days we would like the driving to take longer, meaning we will stop to see things on our way, but are these timings totally unrealistic maybe?
