I know that there is a lot of DL bashing that goes on, but as a Plat DL and a 1K UA, will take DL any day. We were in Ireland and my husband got food poisoning. I never buy trip insurance and though I would have to bite the huge change fee bullet to get us home a full day earlier.

Instead, I got a sympathetic ear, great customer service and a rebooking with waived change fees. That NEVER happens with UA.

DL seems to value its Plat members. Maybe the miles don't go as far and the SWU issue isn't the best, but I am treated with courtesy, and they seem to think that Plat status is a big deal. In UA, 1Ks are step-children to GS members.

DL hubs don't work for me as well as UA's. I hate having to drive to JFK, instead of EWR, if I want a non-stop. I also don't like the no upgrades on coast to coast flights.

But, all in all, give me a smile, someone who makes me believe they value my service and full waiver of MQ$s with a reserve card, instead of no waiver for 1Ks on UA, and you'll find a loyal flyer.

Complain away...until you compare passenger treatment with UA. Then, give a party.
