Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. The BW looked nice, but we did not want to be in the heart of the nightlife. I think we will pay for our hotel in Tokyo (Tuesday - Friday) and get the upgrade using Ambassador status, and then book another room Friday and Saturday paying for Friday and using the BOGO for Saturday.

We should then have enough points to pay for the HI in Cairns and the CP in Coogee Beach for our Aussie leg. With Platinum status we should be able to swing an upgrade at both.

Now I just keep my eyes pealed on the code share thread to see if that gets cleared up for 2014 or possibly some Point Breaks.
