Be interested to see what replies you get. There are quite a few people on this board who are critical of the eat by checklist approach to dining in Japan.
Well I feel that we have a pretty diverse range of places to visit, from hole-in-the-wall family run restaurants and izakayas to creative multi-course kaiseki meals in traditional ryokans and micehlin starred kitchens. We'll have plenty of room for discovering as well. I don't see where there's room for criticism.
