I can understand the frustration with the seat belt signs being on too long, or being on despite experiencing extremely light bumps, but I keep reminding myself that the sudden extreme bumps and drops are not predictable and it would be just my luck to be the passenger that was in the act of getting up when the plane drops suddenly and I end up flattening several passengers or seriously hurting myself. Cliche as it is, better safe than sorry is true even if it seems utterly ridiculous. Especially as there have been times when I have gotten up and not experienced any troubles, but as UAPremierExec says, when I do get up (even without the seat belt sign on) I hold/touch the rail of the luggage bin as I walk to and from the lav. I honor that sign 99% of the time (even if I might grump to myself about it)
