A little different from my experience. Three days after I applied, I received a mail (not e-mail) saying that I was approved and that they would be sending the card by "Personal Identification Confirmation Item Mail" Two days later I received another mail notice to either call the main post office branch in my city to schedule a time for delivery, call a local branch to schedule a time to pick it up, or just show up at the main branch without calling to pick it up (which I did).
Strange that my Gold status has reflected in my account but not my bonus miles. I suppose they will post soon enough...
Wait until February statement and if you don't have it by then call AmEx and chase it up.
I did end up calling in, and they said that the miles wouldn't post until after the first statement was posted and payment for the annual fee was received.
Still, the Gold status has already paid for itself. I had already purchased tickets for an international flight for my family, along with upgrade to Economy Comfort. As Gold Medallion members can purchase seats on EC at a 50% discount, I asked if I could receive a rebate. They agreed to refund the original upgrade and rebook the same seats with the 50% discount. Saved me over $400! ^
